The Department coordinates the Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Information (PPRI) network that comprises competent authorities for pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement in 49, mainly European, countries. The aim of the network is to collect and share information about pricing and reimbursement policies for medicines as well as to exchange experience about best-practice examples.
Recently, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Policies, affiliated to the Pharmacoeconomics Department, have been working on identifying approaches of collaboration with Eastern European and Central Asian countries (EECA) through (more) improved cooperation in a EECA PPRI network.
As a follow-up on network meetings with competent authorities of this region, held in Chisinau (Moldova) and Baku (Azerbaijan) in 2017 and 2018, the formerly calles CIS PPRI network (now EECA PPRI network) met again in Astana (Kazakhstan) in February 2019 to discuss further directions. The network meeting was preceded by a three-day Winter School on Pharmaceutical Pricing and Reimbursement Policies targeted for Russian-speaking public authorities.
