Melanie Walter joined the Pharmacoeconomics Department at the Austrian National Public Health Institute (Gesundheit Österreich GmbH/GÖG) in February 2025. Melanie holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and a European Master of Science in Epidemiology from the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. She has experienced expertise in methods of evidence-based medicine and Health Technology Assessment. Before joining the GÖG, she worked as a Researcher at the Austrian Institute for Health Technology Assessment (AIHTA), where she focused on the evaluation of high-tech medical interventions and health services research projects. Prior to that, she conducted research in infectious disease epidemiology, vector-borne diseases and mathematical modeling at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, where she also lectured and supervised students.
