A systematically developed tool which describes aspects of a patient's condition and the care to be given. A good guideline makes recommendations about treatment and care, based on the best research available, rather than opinion. It is used to assist clinician and patient decision-making about appropriate health care for specific clinical conditions.

Wissenschaftlich ausgearbeitete Empfehlung, die Aspekte des Zustands eines Patienten / einer Patientin und der zu erbringenden Behandlung beschreibt. Eine gute Leitlinie gibt Empfehlungen zur Behandlung und Pflege auf der Basis verfügbarer Evidenz und nicht meinungsbasiert. Sie wird eingesetzt, um Ärzten/Ärztinnen und Patienten/Patientinnen zu Therapieentscheidungen zu unterstützen.

Herramienta desarrollada de forma sistemática que describe aspectos de la condición de un paciente y el cuidado que debe darse. Una buena guía hace recomendaciones sobre el tratamiento y la atención, en base al mejor diagnóstico disponible. Se utiliza para ayudar a médicos y pacientes en la toma de decisiones sobre el cuidado de la salud apropiado a sus condiciones clínicas específicas.
