Capacity building to support the uptake of biosimilars in a multistakeholder approach (AUGMENT Biosimilars)

In July 2024, the AUGMENT Consortium was commissioned by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) to conduct the project “Capacity building to support the uptake of biosimilars in a multistakeholder approach”. The AUGMENT Consortium is led by the Pharmacoeconomics Department and includes esteemed colleagues from the Polish Agency for HTA and Tariff System, Medical University of Sofia, and NOVA University of Lisbon. The Consortium partners are committed to encourage biosimilar uptake through a comprehensive multistakeholder approach by generating evidence, enhancing knowledge, and building capacity. The project will run for three years until July 2027.

Objective

The aim of the project is to support national authorities in implementing policies and practices that improve biosimilar competition, as a means to contribute to the accessibility, affordability and availability of medicines for patients in the EU. The AUGMENT Biosimilars project includes a research study in the first year and capacity building activities in the second and third years.
