Dr. Maximilian Salcher-Konrad is a Senior Health Expert and the Deputy Head of the Pharmacoeconomics department at Gesundheit Österreich GmbH / Austrian National Public Health Institute. He conducts applied pharmaceutical policy research on pricing, reimbursement, and procurement of medicines. He holds a PhD in Health Policy and Health Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the LSE and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a BSc in Economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU). He has previously worked as a Research Fellow at the LSE, where he conducted research on comparative effectiveness of health interventions, methodological aspects of comparative effectiveness research and pharmaceutical policy, pharmaceutical regulation, and economic evaluation. Maximilian has a track record of leading and publishing original studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, including on regulatory management of uncertainty and comparative effectiveness research and evidence generati.

Maximilian is a member of the Lancet Commission on Accelerating Access to Essential Medicines and a co-founder of the Pharmaceutical Policy Lab at the LSE.
